Preview : BenQ Joybook Lite U101 Emo Netbook

The BenQ Joybook Lite U101 is BenQ Group's entrance to the world of netbooks. Since Asus started the Eee frenzy, and netbook's sales rise dramatically, everyone's hoping on the netbook bandwagon to have their piece of pie.

Typical netbook here we have, powered by Intel's infamous N270 Atom processor @ 1.6GHz, coupled with crappy Intel's GMA 950. 1 thing funny about this netbook is that, it only has 512MB of DDRII-533 RAM, which is unremovable. However, BenQ also throws in an 160GB SATA SSD. I might be wrong here, but the label indeed stated SSD, but this is rather rare for a brand to throw in such a large SSD into a netbook. I shall check this out sometime tomorrow.

Btw, this netbook comes with Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR support too! There's another model that has HSDPA supported, but that's optional, which means another model. -.^ Of cause, basic 802.11g wireless is equipped in this netbook.

First boot~! :) Genuine Windows XP Home here, with Norton Antivirus 2009 60-days trial.

The keyboard layout. The response is good, but somehow I don't feel comfortable when typing on it. The touchpad's Left-Click and Right-Click isn't that nice to spam on too as its very noisy to click on.

Notice that the "~" key is located in between the Escape button and F1 button? Which means the number keys are shifted a key ahead unlike other keyboards, which makes it even weirder... This really needs some getting used to.

Wireless notification, netbook status notification, and battery status notification.
No Bluetooth notification here, and no wireless On/Off Switch.

On the left side we have 1 x DC-IN, 1 x D-sub port, and 1 x USB port.
Rather useful for projectors and LCD monitors, unlike HP's Mini.

On the right we have a 4-in-1 Card Reader, Mic-In & HP-Out, 2 x USB ports, 1 x RJ-45 Ethernet port, and a notebook lock slot.
(Card Reader support : MS/MS-Pro/SD/MMC)

The QEye 1.3MP webcam, which is rather standard in notebooks and netbooks.

This photo will explain why the Lite U101's 512MB RAM cannot be removed.
Its hynix rams are integrated into the mainboard, and only has 1 Sodimm slot.

Nice clean curve edges just like the HP Mini, except for the flowery emotions printed on the black chassis.

Offday, of coz havta sleep till late lar, like pig. ^^ The nerds wanted me to play badminton, but i didn't coz i don wanna wake up so early and waste my off day playing balls... lulz~!

Lunch time, George and Wun called me for some munch munch brunch (*breakfast + lunch), and so i went... Took me quite sometime to find the kopitiam behind 101. Somehow George's waypoint instruction seemed to be too confusing for me. -.^


George said that the bread toast over here is good, and I have to agree. But somehow (*maybe I haven had local toast for quite sometime) the toast seemed to be so slim, coz they actually slice a standard 1 piece of bread into 2 pieces. :O that's a rather cheap tactic used, but my friends said its common for kopitiam to do that. Omg I'm very shock to know that. Somehow i felt cheated.


Breads for lunch isn't much of a taker for me, and so George and I ordered the only food around (*it was 2PM, so many stalls actually closed...), which is Fried Taugeh Kueh Tiau. Look wise, it seemed delicious, but somehow its not. You can actually feel that it isn't fried till perfect yet, which makes it a tad tasteless.

After lunch with the boys, I went to register my EPF account coz Ah Lian Ee Ee wanted me to. Heheh~! There isn't alot of ppl, and I have my IC photostated before hand, so the process was fast. Somehow our government's department service have improved tremendously over the years, except for our police and traffics. XD The officers over there actually smile, maybe becoz they wanted a good responce on their service (*which is tracked with numbers!) in the comment box.

After settling my EPF stuff, i went to look for a shop that service my house's auto-gate. Somehow the new remote that mum bought a year ago isn't functioning well, so i had it serviced. The shop is near to Jing Shi Yue Tuan (*which the operator doesn't know OMG!) and next to Auto Bavaria. Well the dude over there, Mr Alvin checked my remote, and said its functioning fine, and then told me there's many interference around housing area, especially baby care walkie-talkie speakers. Dunno whether that's true or not, but once i reached home, the remote can be used again... Hoohoo~!

Night came, and we're supposed to go for movies with the nerds (*lulz i'm so bad for calling them that! Haha!), but somehow they changed to Popwave at Petanak! OMG i was shocked that they wanted to sing K, but it was a fantastic night! I never went to K with the nerd boys, but they DO sing and sing quite crazily too, though not that nice... hahaha~! But it was fun, and everyone enjoyed it. I too enjoyed myself there. Some of the old songs really brings back good and some sad memories too... -____-


We left at around 12:30MN, and once i reach home, i straight away fall into bed. Haha~! Wanted to cook maggi mee de but lazy, and scare grandma's house's kitchen got mouse. -.-!

ah geez~! diz is freaking not funny~! diz is freaking sux!!! i screwed things up... didn't even took the steps to say things properly, ending up getting a 'thank you' msg only... well, wad can i say, i expect too much...

* the cupcake is not bought by me, but by my colleague Amy. Damn, i regret didn't order some... but still, its a 'last minute' thing, so... nobody to blame...

damn, i did it again... i dunno how, i dunno why, but somehow, i bought flowers again... -.-! its rather last minute, and i didn't even think of it at first, as i don really wanna go active this valentines. But i gave myself another chance, though its a rather slim 1% chance, but i think i owe myself this chance. But well, she said 'don't buy flowers lar, don't waste money'. Oh, she's so gonna get 1 when she says that. HAHAHAHAHA!!!


Bought this bouquet of rose at tHe Spring, which i book through Ah Sung's friend, Lex. But he's not at tHe Spring, in fact he's at Waterfront, so i gotta get it through the gals working at there.


Well she said she's having a BBQ session with her working colleagues tonight, and i can't manage to give the roses to her before she departs, so now i gotta wait for her BBQ session to end, which she said she will sms me. hmm... really gotta cross my fingers and trust my own heart this time. really kan chiong ler... -.-!


Ok, so the boys have gathered everyone to be at Point One of BDC now, so i'm leaving now, and waiting for her reply. One thing regarding this valentines issue, it seemed like mum isn't very encouraging on me getting flowers for gals... Somehow, for all this while, i though she's very supportive on these issues... weird.

Well, i'm very anxious and nervous now, yet i'm very happy that i'm giving a gal roses on valentines. didn't expect it.

*P/s : 1 of my resolution for this year has come through. Yippee!!! I finally bought a new Nokia N79, and all the photos in this post is taken with my new phone. I'm so happy right now to own this new phone, well its a present from me for myself this valentines.

Btw, I'm very happy today for another thing. Since i started working last march, I never manage to wake up in time to have laksa for breakfast, as i always wake up late. Haha~! But today, its a miracle, that i wake up in time, and have a 'relaxing' time enjoying laksa at Tabuan Jaya's Thompson Corner. Not the most delicious laksa around town, but still, its delicious. ^^

ah, dunno what to post about now. I'm supposed to post quite a number of things during CNY, but due to family incidents, I'm afraid some of them had to be skipped. Oh yeah, I forgot to wish all my readers and all my family and friends a happy chinese new year, so right here, I wish EVERYONE a happy and healthy chinese new year. Also, regarding pictures of my KL trips, I'm still trying to compile them, as well as collecting some others scattered around my friends' phones. ._____.

Chinese new year, just a few days of holiday, and now its nearly over. And after chinese new year, would be what I hate most, Valentines. Every year, my valentines had always been without a girl holding my hands. Its either me hiding at home like "sua gu", or going out with a bunch of boys as if we're a gay gang. -.-! (*well the exception of accompanying someone when she got dump is what I call once-in-a-blue-moon experience, which wouldn't happened again, I hope)

well I've been sick ever since I'm back from my KL Trip. Though i may be able to jump and run around by now, but i'm still suffering from slight coughing... which makes me abit lazy to update my blog.

Also, i though that i'd be quite free after the trip, but i was wrong. i've bought a 1/100 Gundam 00 with O-raiser model kit, which will make me abit busy these few days. Moreover, chinese new year is just around the corner, so i've gotta take as much free time as possible to tidy and decorate my house.

new year's eve, how did you spend yours?

well, i wanted to call you up, but i just couldn't get my fat fingers to press `em. Loi said that its expected, as your job required you to be round the clock especially during holiday times. I still wonder how you spent yours. But I'm worried that your soul might not be here. And i'm worried that you might not like it if i bring you to soho.

anyway, its been donkey years since i go clubbing, i think this is just the second time. And yet again, i got drunk again... and vomit. And the farnie part is? well i vomit on a gal and she still doesn't know... Wow~! well its already too wild to know such thing going on. Haha!!! Anyway, whoever she is, i'm really sorry i did that. Also, to George, I'm sorry i throw up on you too!!! Haha!!! But don't worry, you're gonna get rich this year cause you've got my puke on you!!! HAHA!!!

I reached there around 10PM, and actually I'm supposed to share 2 tables with Ah Sung, but he picked a table outside, whereas we prefer the dark corner inside. Somehow, DK-San managed to arrange 2 tables for us inside, but the bad news is, we gotta open 2. damn... well, we didn't manage to finish all of `em anyway...

Somehow, we didn't manage to play alot, as we weren't given the party pack. Also, the boys weren't alcohol drinkers, some even only drink green tea (*lulz~!). Only a few of us drink. What i know is, mk is the guy that's drunk the most. Apparently he offered to drink with all of the girls there, and i guess 1 glass each gals, wow... surely sum up to quite alot...

The remix that night at Soho was quite nice actually, eventhough i expect Kuching's DJ's to be not up to par compared to the International scenes. But still, the mix was nice! There's even the Dota song by Basshunter. Some old remix was there too, which was unexpected.

Around 12:30AM, we headed out to McD near Soho, but couldn't find any parking place, and therefore headed to the one at 3rd Mile. But it was packed, and after awhile queueing up, me and George got fade up and went away. Khee and DK-San was enjoying themselves posting with the drunken monkey... haha~!!!

arrivederci 2008, benvenuto 2009!

2008 has passed, therefore i should've recapped what i've done and accomplished in this year. well, i like to do this, but the thing is... i can't remember much of what i've done in the 'just-passed' 2008.


well, i started blogging, tat's nice eh? (*eventhough i started late... but still need to say thanx to Ah Sung who caused me to incidentally started blogging myself, thanx bro!)

new year of 2008, erm... i think i celebrated it in a DOtA game... -.-! ain tat lame?


chinese new year, erm... well... typical, nothing special happened. oh yeah, i broke my ankle (*was it right or left?) on the 1st night at Han Perng's house while playing fireworks, and i hadta skip the 2nd day of chinese new year, whining at home due to the endless pain... :( didn't manage to go out with my friends and also skipped a few relatives' houses.


after cny, tat'l be... erm... valentines? well, its my 1st time buying a bouquet of roses for someone (*darn expensiv i might say... double the price of normal days... nice business eh?), but well, everything went wrong, and... well, i can't say anything anymore i guess. its already a history anyway. but it was a nice experience.


march, ah, yeah, i started my very first work. didn't actually expect that i'd be working, and many of my friends were surprised that i'm working. WOW~! cannot believe ey? well take that!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!! it was a great experience working at CompuMart. the colleagues there are awesome! everyones' friendly and cooperative (*well, nearly... huhu~!) and i cant say my boss's the bad guy. He's actually a great guy, and very friendly i might add. Its just that, sometimes he might nag at us, but i still think its our fault that we didn't do well our job , and tat's why he'd nag at us. But overall, he's a great guy.


after that, well... i've been working all the way till the end of the year. haha!

yeah i broke my other ankle too when 1 nite i went basketball with the boys. huiz was there, and i guess i didn't warm up, and went overboard when guarding him. twisted my ankle, which isn't a nice experience at all. i end up having


my 1st pc fair as a worker there. wow, i let my boss down. i sold quite a number of lappies back at the shop, and he'd expect me to perform in the fair, but i screwed it up. maybe its too hot there, and actually too much competition. besides, i'm handling a brand that's not that popular compared to others. but still, its my fault for not performing on par.


my 2nd pc fair, haha~! i totally enjoyed it, its chill there, and though many said its cold, my spot's kinda nice. and i manage to clear quite a number of printers since i'm selling printers and monitors this time. but also, some warning from 3E's boss not allowing me to sell printers lower than their price, has let me felt disappointed towards 3E's style of doing business. but overall, its fun working there, but hehe... no more next time. i'm sticking to retail. :P


ah yesh, i skipped alot of class during my last semester, as non of my friends were taking that subject, and i totally blame it on SEGi. that subject was supposed to be offered when i entered the college, but they offered it to me in my last semester, making me mood-less to attend the classes, thus missing alot of things. but the worst is, i fully prepared myself for the exam, yet having overslept at that day, making myself failed for that paper. :( but luckily i made it for the 2nd attempt, which wasn't that hard.


another, went to damai beach during september (*i think), with George, Fred, Khee, Wun, DK-san, Ling Kun, Ee Ling, and also Ah Kiat. its a fun trip, i rushed my assignment just to find out about this trip last moment through Freddy, and they even forget to pick me on that day. -.-! and its the Damai trip that i got my 'midnight lorry driver' nick. haha~! wad a farnie name...

well, can't really remember anything else for 2008. wad else can i say? i've gotta fatter, eventhough sliming down is my resolution in 2008. :D how farnie is tat!?!

anyway, its time for 2009! and let's start the resolution!!! 3 simple resolution i'm gonna put down, since i've started blogging so i'l be able to track my resolves.
1. Get slim down (*yep, he's here again... :( soooooo gonna slim down and cut down my weight. many old shirts cannot wear edi... sob...)

2. Save up enough to buy myself a new PC and a new PHONE!!! (*new phone for blogging kakakaka~!)

3. Try to organize another trip to somewhere... Redang perhaps~! w00ta~!
